When you request an SSL, your hosting company will issue a CSR (certificate signing request) from the server where your website is hosted. That request is sent to a company that has authority to issue an SSL. They will then issue and send the certificate (big long string of numbers and letters) which back to the hosting company so that it can be loaded on the web server.
You can check the install by going to the secure version of your name - https://www.yourdomain.com and verifying that it is installed.
Once your SSL has been installed, you need to make a change to your fbx_config.cfm file (root file). Around line 36 you'll see
<cfparam name="Request.SecureURL" default="https://www.NucomWebHosting.com/">
You need to make sure it has 'https' and 'www' as the SSL only works for the 'www' subdomain of your domain.
